How'd Pre-Reg Go For You?

There are certain scripts that cycle through Wesleyan conversations every year, and that have probably remained, for the most part, unchanged since at least the 90s. Interacting with distant acquaintances—failed friendships, ex-group project mates, that one person you talked with after every T/R 10:20 class—is a large part of the college social scene.
What do you say to your friend’s friend when you accidentally start a conversation standing in the pasta line? What do you say to your freshman year roommate when you run into each other at Pi for the first time in months and you have absolutely no idea what their life has entailed since the last time you talked, drunk, at ADP, other than that, like everybody else, they have to choose what classes to take next semester?
Here's a list of dialogues that aid/plague the Wes social experience over the course of the year.
Fall Semester:
Where are you from?
What dorm do you live in?
What classes are you taking?
What did you do this summer?
Are you going to ___ this weekend?
Were you at ___ this weekend?
Are you doing anything for fall break?
What did you do for fall break?
How are midterms?
Are you doing anything for Thanksgiving break?
What did you do for Thanksgiving break?
Do you know what classes you want to take next semester?
How’d pre-reg go for you?
How are finals?
Any plans for winter break?
Spring Semester:
What did you do over winter break?
What classes are you taking?
Are you going to ___ this weekend?
Were you at ___ this weekend?
How are midterms?
Where are you from?
Are you doing anything for spring break?
What did you do for spring break?
What classes are you thinking about for next semester?
The weather is so nice.
How’d pre-reg go for you?
How’d housing selection go for you? (be careful with this one if you’re talking to a rising sophomore)
Do you have any plans for the summer?
How’re finals?
When are you leaving campus for the summer?
